Is today's society and the parents of today's youth too accepting of this trend?

With that question being a constant in the day to day growing world of social media, I first want to say that while no I am not a parent, that does not prevent me from recognizing the problems arising in today's youth. Now that I have made that clear, I will say that yes parents are far too accepting of this growing trend of provocative dress and they need to be more active and up to date on what their kids are doing and watching on television. When these tweens have people like Miley Cyrus to look up to and want to emulate, it is the parents responsibility to make sure they know what their kids are wearing. Let's face it the majority of youth today are not out working yet, so they are getting an allowance from their guardians. It's simple when they come home after spending your money, pretend it's like Halloween and you're inspecting the candy...look at their purchased clothing and if it is too risque then you return it and find something more suitable. It's called taking an active role in your child's life!

The problem today is the majority of these kids do not have proper relationships with their parents; they see them as friends more so than parents. They call their parents by their first name, and it's disrespectful and some adults do not correct them and say 'I am your mother/father, call me mom/dad.' Another issue in play these days is the parents standing firm on not wanting the schools to be too active over their children. However, if the parents won't do their job then where are these kids going to get guidance from? They are obsessed with people that are famous for no reason (ie - The Jersey Shore cast) and yet parents allow them to watch this mindless and frankly irresponsible programming.

Where is the adult supervision anymore... and what happened to proper parent/child relations and simply letting children be children. Today you see parents posting videos on youtube of their child misbehaving telling them that their punishment for acting out will be strangers on the internet watching the video. Also those parents that are subjecting their 4-year-old kids to hair extensions and lip gloss and high heels for beauty pageant competitions. They themselves are making their offspring look like adult women, and so who is to blame really when these kids end up in trouble? They are forced to grow up way too fast and it shows in their personalities and lack of respect for authoritative figures (ie - school officials, police, etc.) The parenting and responsibility of today's adults over their kids is severely lacking and it is for this reason we are seeing increases in teen pregnancies, STD transmission in schools, and physical violence. All of this derived from youth's obsession to be the next 'Jersey Shore' fame? Doesn't seem worth it to me...

I could go on forever, I'll stop here though and get working on my next piece. My final thought: parents need to open their eyes and pay attention to their children and use those parental controls and regulate the amount of time their children spend in front of a television or a computer! They need to open up a dialogue with their kids, know who their friends are and a basis of what they talk about together. It's time to remind them that they are... just kids!

Gay Rights: Fighting For What's Right

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 176px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SvcYUSujdHI/AAAAAAAAAEA/t7hf9fR2sPU/s320/Travel_for_Change.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401813014957749362" />
Welcome back to DishThis!, a place where as always...ANYTHING goes.

This installment will be strictly focused on the recent overturning of Maine's same-sex marriage law this week. A crushing blow to gay rights activists and all that support our cause, but it is by no means slowing us down from moving forward and continuing our fight for equality.

'Stand For Marriage Maine' is the leading organization fighting the legalization of same-sex marriage via their support of 'Yes on 1'. Spokeswoman Mary Conroy said "I feel overjoyed for the family and the people of Maine" in reaction to the official announcement that their so called "cause" had in fact been triumphant. The majority of their arguments throughout their campaigning were concerns that children would begin learning about gay marriage and relationships in the education system. Conroy went as far as to say that should Maine's youth begin to read stories with same-sex themes in schools, it would encourage teenagers to experiment with their sexuality, with an increased possible outcome of homosexual marriage becoming a widespread reality.

Is it just me, or is this utterly ridiculous? First of all, it is disgusting that anyone would feel content and proud just moments after crushing the dreams of an entire community. You and your organization raised about what, 2.5 million dollars give or take, and for what? To simply take away the rights of your fellow neighbors, and quite possibly your closeted friends who don't want you to 86 them from your life. You're absolutely right, you should be proud to have raised such an immense amount of money for such a worthy cause. I mean it's not like we have to worry about raising money for researching Cancer, HIV/AIDS, Autism, Alzheimer's or any of the other types of illnesses and disorders out there!

Mary Conroy went on to say that the 'Stand For Marriage' supporters are ordinary people with families, and that lesbians and gays have already won anti-discrimination laws and that we should "leave marriage alone."

Seriously, are you really telling us not only what to do but how we should feel? As if laws put in place to simply protect us from being judged on who we are is some sort of consolation prize! We are just like everyone else, when are you and the rest of the narrow-minded hatemongers going to realize that what we do in our private lives has NOTHING whatsoever to do with you or your children!!! You claim that if homosexuals have the right to marry, it will somehow destroy the family unit and create some type of wave of sexual experimentation in teenagers? Hey newsflash, being a teenager has always been about experimenting! Alcohol, cigarettes, marijuana, sex (gay, straight, bisexual), the list goes on with what people do at that age. It's called getting to know yourself inside and out, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Clearly you'd prefer that we have today's youth and future generations live life as a type of 'Stepford' community where everything is uniform and nobody differentiates from what you consider to be the "norm" of society. Sorry but this is not going to happen, we aren't going anywhere and we most definitely have no intention on settling for anything less than what is rightfully ours.

I say to you Mary Conroy and to all those just like you, to leave us alone and allow us to live a life of freedom just as you can. Stop spreading hatred in a world that already has an abundance of it, and start spreading a message of love instead. Love and equality is worth more in the end and will be respected, whereas hate has no place and will be stomped into the ground!

DishThis!

"Halloween II" (2009) Review - Seriously?...

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 216px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SqGVWQ-4zRI/AAAAAAAAAD4/MOXWn5JNqx0/s320/Halloween+II+Poster.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377743639805480210" />
Okay so ‘Halloween’ came a bit early this year, as it usually does when Michael Myers makes an appearance in our lives. Oh where to begin, there is just so much to say. First I would like to be courteous and warn readers that this write up will indeed contain plot points, so with that said read at your own risk.

Like most die-hard fans of the John Carpenter series, when news initially broke that Rob Zombie was going to take on the reboot back in 2007 I was highly skeptical as to what would become of the iconic legacy that is Michael Audrey Myers. However, much to my surprise for the most part I was content with his take on the classic story. I personally enjoyed the childhood years we got to see on screen; however I did not like that Zombie tried to give an explanation for Michael’s madness by showcasing that he came from a broken home. In the end it took away from the mystery behind what we were always meant to believe drove his madness…evil. Pushing that aside though Rob Zombie kept the elements of the original film, while adding his own little tidbits here and there which is why I think overall the film was a success. It catered to both new audiences and life-long followers too.

Skip ahead to the present, I wish the same could be said for the recently released “Halloween II.” Rob Zombie returns to continue what he started, however unfortunately I was quite distressed to see just how completely the character of Michael Myers was altered. (I will touch on this shortly…) I am all for new directions and trying new things, but when it comes to an iconic character such as himself there are certain things you just do not change! The film opened much like the original sequel did (or so we think), taking place the same night as the previous film ended. However, after the initial 15 to 20 minutes taking place in the hospital, we discover it all to be a dream inside Laurie’s head. The audience is forced to question whether it really was just a dream or if the dream was of an event that did occur the night she shot him. Depending on how you look at it, as individuals we can pretty much make our own choice in back story to whatever fits better plot wise in our minds.

As the story picks up, we are reintroduced to the characters who survived the previous installment, as well as meeting the newbies (who you know from the moment they hit the screen are simply there as time fillers and a few extra kill scenes.) In terms of character development, one of the things I felt was strongest with this film was the swap in characteristics between Annie and Laurie. Previously, Annie was the party girl who would sneak out to be with her boyfriend when she should be babysitting, while Laurie was always the good girl who obeyed her parents and did not act out. This time around, you’ve got Annie taking charge of caring for Laurie and the hardships she’s had to endure over the last year, while Laurie has become more like Annie used to be; going out to party and not really taking anything seriously. I did feel this worked and was a change that did not take away from what could have been with this film. Unfortunately, I have to say the character of Dr. Samuel Loomis was completely butchered in this film. Zombie took the only other nemesis Michael Myers ever had and turned him into an egocentric money grubbing son of a bitch! Yes, it’s sadly the way of the world today that people will cash in on others misery and their pain, but there was absolutely no point in Dr. Loomis being in this movie. The one thing that all true “Halloween” fans salivate over is the inevitable confrontation between Loomis and Myers…which in my opinion never came this time around. They shared screen time for maybe 5 minutes, and those few moments left much to be desired. Think of it in terms of the point of being completely sexually aroused (the point of no return if you will), then imagine being completely let down…no pill is going to get that rocket launched! Those of you, who have seen the film, know exactly what I am talking about. This finally brings me to Michael Myers himself, who more than anything appears to be a hobo rather than ‘The Shape’ we are all accustomed to and love. “Halloween II” portrays Michael as being more human than we have ever seen him before. He is angry but not as he used to be, this time when he kills you can hear him grunt as he slashes his knife or stomps on someone’s face or even as he bursts through a door. I sat there in the theater watching this and thought to myself, “Okay who is this copycat and where is the real Michael Myers?” Zombie strayed a bit too far for my taste when it came to Myers; this time around he was definitely not “The Shape.”

It’s time I touch on the subplot going on in Michael’s psyche in which he has visions of his dead mother and a white horse (apparently a story which was told to him as a child). I wish I could tell you there was not much screen time devoted to this but alas I would be lying. Sheri Moon Zombie reprises her role as Deborah Myers (Michael’s mother of course), but this time around she is a ghost-like entity. Yes, you read that correctly “Halloween II” has a bit of a ghost story going on as well. Throughout the film Michael continues to see her and all she says is “It’s time to bring us home Michael.” More or less bating him to return to Haddonfield and claim his birthright and baby sister, in hopes of becoming a family again. The end scene I must say was rather weak and slightly confusing. You have a shack in the middle of nowhere with Michael and Laurie inside and the entire police force surrounding them. Loomis enters and attempts to save Laurie, however she is screaming “He is holding me down, I can’t move.” Loomis sees nothing of course, while we the audience and Laurie herself see a young Michael Myers holding her to the ground as her birth mother watches. The entire scene raised the question of what was real and what wasn’t. Why was Laurie also seeing her dead mother and young Michael? This reviewer believes it to be the moment in which her mind was actually fragmenting to the point of complete annihilation of who she once was. Based on the ending, it seems to be a plausible statement to make.

The film will of course find an audience, however I feel this installment is more for the newer audiences who may not be familiar with the original series as some of us are. With the already announced Halloween 3-D due out summer 2010…I have to say I am curious as to what could happen next. I am satisfied that Rob Zombie will not be returning though. Again, I am all for new directions and so forth, but there are some things you just cannot disregard when it comes to a classic. For all of his efforts, Zombie did a decent job back in 2007, but this time around there were just too many classic key elements missing. It just did not feel like a “Halloween” film. I mean hello out of the entire runtime, I think they only played John Carpenter’s score once or twice. Even with everything else that was somehow overlooked, how can you completely disregard those eerie sounds that make you grip your seat and wonder where and when and how “The Shape” will strike next?

Watching the Paint Dry

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SoNWiQbOtdI/AAAAAAAAADw/FZRD_XbbUO8/s320/construction+worker.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369230327280481746" />
Okay readers welcome back to DishThis!...first I have to give a shout to a friend who inspired me with the title of this entry (you know who you are 'Griffin') LOL - Thanks babe, I love it!

So the rents have a great deal of work being done on the house, initial stage being the painting. First of all, while I am thrilled they're doing this, I do have a life and it's summer. I don't understand why I am the one who has to sit at home with these people and 'watch the paint dry', hello I'm not the only person living in this house! Last week alone I had to cancel my plans every single time. Let's not even talk about this week... What makes my life so much less important than everyone else'? I feel trapped here, which would be fine if there was some eye candy to stare at while they paint. (Please refer to the picture at the top...why isn't that the type who is here remodeling the house?) Hell if it were, I'd tell the other live-in members of the house to take their time and stay gone! haha The house to myself in the summer with sizzling painters doing their brush strokes, sounds great to me. ;) However, that's not the case here. Very nice people of course, but not the type you'd stare at for hours or offer lemonade and iced tea and chat it up with. Such a shame, because that would be kind of fun.

As for the season as a whole, more or less it's been uneventful and yet I've enjoyed the changes in my life. Also interesting thing I realized, is that I pretty much have spent most of the summer on the roof of my house than inside the actual house. LOL - It's my favorite place now, especially to tan! I think to myself that if I could lay out nude up there I would...but then I remember the bathing suits I wear when I get some rays are pretty short. I hate tan lines!...(on me anyway LOL) Besides, I have to keep some things to myself and away from the neighbors! Right? ;)

Okay so that's it for this little tidbit, more stories will be posted soon. So stay tuned! And thanks again to my buddy 'Griffin' for the blog title. I know it's been a while since I've written about my life, and I am sorry for that, but the time has come to get my thoughts and anecdotes out there again. As you can see in the title, I'm well underway at a comeback...not quite there yet, but soon! That being said, let's just jump right in shall we...

Just in case some of you are not aware, I was laid off back in January (I know just like the rest of this country), and have been seeking work ever since. I've heard everything from "we're not hiring right now" to "your resume is great, however we feel that you're over-qualified" to "you have great potential, however we are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years experience." Seriously!!!!????!!!! For god's sakes what is a person in their 20's supposed to do at this point, right? Well for me after six months of the same thing, I've decided to do what I do best...which is write! Is it going to pay the bills? No, of course not. Will I have the support and understanding of the family? Chances are probably not! However, in the end I've got to do what is best for me and nobody else. It seems pretty simple and logical, but having the guts to go through with it takes a great deal of courage, and unfortunately not many people ever get to achieve that. So like they say on BRAVO TV, 'Watch What Happens!'

Moving On...

Recently I've done a major 'cleansing' of the people in my life. It has been a long time coming, however it had to be done. As individuals, it is inevitable that we grow and mature as we continue to experience more things in this life. Sadly, there are those people that just seem to remain stagnant and never learn or ascend into a new state of being. Essentially they do not offer anything to your life and who you are or will become in the future. More specifically, it was the unnecessary drama that led to the cleansing of a portion of my social contacts. Life is way too short to deal with back-talk and the 'he-said-she-said' crap!!! Seriously people, if you've got issues with others then just be upfront about it to their face and settle it. There's no need for gossip or malicious behavior; especially after the age of 18 (and that's pushing it)! Everyone talks about people behind their backs, and that's okay...ONLY if what you say about the person of discussion while they are not present, isn't anything you wouldn't say directly to their face. Trust me, it makes for better friendships in the long run! BE HONEST!!! Thus far after the 'cleansing', I don't think much of them nor miss any of the repetitive conversations. Makes for a better me. :)

Moving On...

Speaking of a better me, I have never felt better about my body or mind than I do right now! Have I ever had a weight problem, no not exactly. However, like most people there are those random moments in your life where you can afford to drop a few pounds. It was a mere 2 months ago that I woke up one day and decided "I was going to change my life." And I did exactly that. I stopped my 'bad' eating habits; which more or less was just me not eating on a normal schedule. It wasn't rare for me to eat at odd hours of the day and night. With just a few slight alterations, I've got more energy now than ever before, and all I did was start eating on a normal schedule. I've been doing yoga for years now, however I am nowhere near being a master at it. All in time though. I also increased my reading materials; basically will read anything and just learn whatever I can. Between the yoga, the reading, the foods, I am a whole new person. I must admit that I did recently read 'The Secret', and to those of you who scoff at the whole New Age way of thinking or living...they are just words. It is YOU the individual who makes it reality. If yoga and New Age is not for you, then simply look deep into yourself and discover what it is you want and NEVER give up on it. I haven't, and even though I may be unemployed currently and not where I'd like to be in terms of career... I don't let it bring me down. Look at the world and laugh your ass off, because that is what is missing...the laughter!

Moving On...

Another thing I tend to laugh at lately are these so called 'men' out there. Oh my god are these people for real; I don't know what was worse being on a date where the guy asked me about 30 minutes in how big my dick was or this other guy I went on a date with who I discovered was actually married! You've got to be kidding me with this shit. First of all never ask what I'm packing; especially on a first date because bottom line there's nothing in there for you that night anyway okay...and as for you closeted married men, well I feel for you but don't think all of us out and proud guys are willing to get your rocks off. What happened to the decent gay guys who aren't still looking for a quick fuck? I'm all for some fun but c'mon at least be able to hold a decent conversation people; please! That's all I ask at this point. Currently, we've got a trio of guys who quite possibly have potential...so we'll feel it out and see what they're all about. All are new to my canvas, so keeping my options open. This juggling thing is new to me, but you know what I'm single so why the hell not. Stay Tuned...

Okay readers on that note, it's time to go and work it yoga style! Be sure to come back within a couple of days for a special 'exposed' entry that will Dish 100% on all the crazy and random adventures that I've experienced over the last couple of months. Nothing will be left out; you get the good bad ugly and downright embarrassing. Wouldn't have it any other way.
Nothing but love to my DishThis! readers. This time around I've got individual reviews of the "Underworld" trilogy, and reviews of the "Vacancy" series. These reviews are strictly meant to give a brief recap of my own personal thoughts on what did or did not work in the film. Fans of vampire and werewolf lore and home invasion are sure to have their cravings met with these additions into the horror genre. Readers beware, for the full moon is rising... DishThis!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 216px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/Sg8Vr5DcnzI/AAAAAAAAADI/5fJRLUxtq14/s320/underworld.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5336507927251164978" />
I remember seeing this film opening weekend back in 2003, and even six years later I am just as satisfied as I was after that initial viewing. The "Underworld" franchise depicts a centuries long feud between a coven of vampires and the ravenous Lycans. With this film taking place in present day amongst a Gothic type metropolis, the atmosphere is absolutely perfect given the storyline. Combined with stunning visual effects and a stellar cast rounding out its core characters, part one is a guaranteed winner! Len Wiseman takes the helm as director, writer, and producer all while making it a family affair by casting his gorgeous and talented wife Kate Beckinsale as Selene. The first of what later on spawned into a trilogy, the "Underworld" series has taken two of folklore's most mystifying creatures and given them a whole new back story and brought to life a world that makes you wonder what is and what could be. Definitely a film to watch and add to any collection, and be sure to check out the sequel and the recently released prequel to round out the story. Enjoy!!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 224px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/Sg8WBXOsooI/AAAAAAAAADQ/rEQhK4TPsac/s320/UnderworldEvolution.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5336508296128668290" />
Okay so just like the first installment to the franchise, I remember seeing this one opening weekend too. Three years later, and I am still just as into it now as I was then. While "Underworld: Evolution" is a direct sequel to it's predecessor, the film initially opens in the year 1202 A.D. to give the audience a brief background on the varied connections between the two bloodlines and another rift that sent them down centuries of death and destruction. After the prologue, we pick up with Vampire Selene, and her Lycan/Vampire Hybrid lover whom are now on the run after taking down the Vampire Elder Viktor. Once again you've got Len Wiseman at the helm on all counts and presents the fans with another stellar film. This time around however, we're taken on a ride that uncovers a secret lineage that once again intertwines the bloodlines of the vampires and lycans. For die-hard fans of the series, this too is definitely one to add to your collection. Also be sure to check out the recently released prequel to round out the trilogy. Enjoy the show!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 215px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/Sg8WelH_aiI/AAAAAAAAADY/UBtPzuK4JcI/s320/UnderworldRiseoftheLycans.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5336508798074841634" />
Finally the prequel we've been waiting for to round out the "Underworld" trilogy. Unlike the first two films, this one I was not able to catch in theaters so yesterday when it was released I was able to rent it via netflix of course. Now I know this installment has gotten a variety of mixed reviews from fans. The most common I have come across is that people felt as if there was no need for a prequel, or at least not the story they depicted in 'Rise of the Lycans.' I'll have to disagree with this, because even though we learned of the story between Lucian and Sonja in the original, there is a completely different take on it when you see it first hand on screen. Could they have done a prequel following a different storyline, perhaps at an even earlier time than this took place in? Of course, but all in all Len Wiseman once again delivers, but this time is solely acting as the producer, while he gives up the director's chair to Patrick Tatopoulos. Just as visually satisfying as the first two, I have to say the finale scene takes the cake here. The ending rounds out the series perfectly, and brings us directly up to the beginning of the original film. For those of you who haven't seen it yet, make it a movie night and watch the trilogy one after the other. Enjoy the films!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 222px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/Sg8W5rbBKCI/AAAAAAAAADg/beW1vGWkk8c/s320/vacancy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5336509263621728290" />
Here you have a semi-reversal of the classic home invasion genre, only this time shown through the events at a cheap motel rather than a private residence. With the acting talents of Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson, you are sure to enjoy the characters they portray regardless of the mayhem they encounter on their journey. The film itself has a completely voyeuristic feel to it what with the immense camera lenses watching them, and wreaks of Norman Bates. What I found particularly satisfying was the social commentary depicted when the deranged serial killers use their murderous videos as a marketing tool to bring in money. Without spoiling it, I will say the ending of this film could have two possible outcomes; which is something I both love and hate. This is definitely a film to watch and add into your collection if you're a fan of the home invasion genre. Enjoy!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 222px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/Sg8X7g6_q9I/AAAAAAAAADo/ME2ENtJx6A4/s320/Vacancy_2+_The_First_Cut.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5336510394674424786" />
Here we have the prequel to the 2007 film in which we are shown the beginning of how the motel came to be a place of murder and mayhem. That aspect of it I actually felt was very well done, and quite interesting to see that they were originally just perverted peepers and not serial killers. The murder videos came about when they accidentally witnessed a man check in with a prostitute and slash her to death. However, at the same time I found it highly unlikely that even peeping toms would out of the blue decide to video tape people dying and sell them to clients. With a younger cast of relatively unknown actors, the performances came off well to keep us interested. Unfortunately, I have to say that the film fails to provide continuity for the series and skews the timeline to the point where you don't know who and how certain people came to run the motel. As a prequel its purpose is to present us with answers and not to create more than we had originally. This one is worth a watch, but I'd say it is one to be left out of the collection. Enjoy it!

There you have it everyone, part four has come to an end but don't get your sick and twisted minds into a psychotic frenzy... Part five is already in the works! Wishing all of you a terrifyingly killer weekend, and be sure to get yourself out to the movies this summer for a slew of carnage to rip through the screens. Enjoy fear-seekers, DishThis!

Horror Reviews Are In - Part III

The third entry to the horror review series has arrived! This time with an even more well-rounded group of films from the genre. As seen previously, each review is meant to give every one of you a brief detailed opinion on what to expect before popping in that DVD. Touching upon films from decades past and even the present, there is surely something for everybody. So let's get to the DISH, shall we...

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 224px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SgZPigLjCxI/AAAAAAAAACg/Cqi0zmvRQa8/s320/butterfly3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334038262839446290" />
The third installment to the franchise proves to be better than part two, however fails to surpass the greatness of the original. 'Revelations' brought an interesting twist to the trilogy by not simply having events altered due to the jumping back and forth into the past and present, but actually showcased the terror that can be created by altering fate and destiny. The on screen performances were strong enough in their intensity that the audience begins to truly care for each character. Which makes it that much more disturbing to us when we see that specific character eventually become the serial killer's next victim. The only thing I will mention as a slight negative is that as you witness each of the film's characters die off, it becomes clear who the killer is based on their only connection to the victims. However, don't let this discourage you from viewing the film as it only becomes clear to you about one minute before the killer's mask is revealed. While this is a standalone film as the second one was, the initial film is a must to simply give you the backstory on what the 'Butterfly Effect' is. Enjoy the film.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 224px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SgZQYb29kZI/AAAAAAAAACo/Z6MybGcxVaI/s320/dyingbreed.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334039189392298386" />
I'd have to say that this film really did not leave me with too much to think about, which in my opinion means it did not do its job. My feeling is that if a film doesn't intrigue you enough to continue thinking about it and asking questions, then something is missing. "Dying Breed" is essentially a combination of 'Wrong Turn' and 'The Hills Have Eyes', with a minor addition of the back story surrounding the Tasmania lands. Visually I was content but not blown away, everything just seemed way too unoriginal. Before I even began to view the film, I was curious as to why there was a martini glass as the box art. Now that I have seen the film, I still have no answer to that but I guess it's my own personal preference that the cover art be somehow directly related to the film. While most of this review does seem to be more negative than positive, I'd still say to check it out if your taste lies with cannibalism and survival of the fittest themes. Enjoy...

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 234px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SgZQ2NdBs7I/AAAAAAAAACw/t4h1x1Ea7iY/s320/Intruder.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334039700921496498" />
Before I jump into this mostly negative review, I just want to say that I am a huge fan of Sam and Ted Raimi and I was surprised at my distaste for anything they are a part of. Anyway with that said, here it goes...
Okay so here we have another horror film from the 80's that like most of them doesn't really stand out too much amongst the others. However, I was shocked and quite intrigued that there was zero nudity in the film. The 1980's was a decade where nudity in horror films was rampant so it was refreshing to see a complete lack of it. Sadly to say even with that, there is just a lack of execution done overall. While I prefer sometimes to use my mind to create a scene, in this movie the death scenes were quite gory and it was all visually right there for you. With a few interesting characteristics displayed by the killer and a couple of one-liners he spits out, I felt myself wondering as to how much longer until the credits roll. Never a good sign! I found it unrealistic that the 'survivor girl' simply goes about her duties while shutting down the store and doesn't notice that all of her co-workers are missing. The ending was quite ridiculous in terms of the police that arrive on the scene, and their characters were written very much in the same manner as those seen at the finale of the 1982 film "The Dorm That Dripped Blood." My final thought would have to be that while the idea is quite good and setting was certainly perfect for a crazed killer to prey on victims, the execution failed. Check it out, but don't go in expecting much.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 221px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SgZRqC3lJlI/AAAAAAAAAC4/NaAj3gseJB8/s320/Splinter.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334040591433279058" />
Here we have an interesting take on the creature-feature genre combined with the traditional good characters vs. bad characters who have to band together to survive. The film had a slight similarity to 'Tremors 2' in regards to the methods in which the creatures hunt, however other than that this creature was quite fresh I must say. Strong on screen performances were delivered, especially Jill Wagner's portrayal of heroine Polly Watt. Wonderfully executed from start to finish, however there are some instances where your mind may wander off. It is for this reason that I'd say to definitely check out the film since it is a unique take on the popular creature-feature. However, for me it is not something I'd add to my collection or watch a second time. We've all had splinters before and know how they feel, however nothing will prepare you for the splinting pain you're going to see in this film. Enjoy!!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 216px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SgZSHPgc0uI/AAAAAAAAADA/I1ljDngvjqY/s320/the-uninvited.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334041093042131682" />
Okay so here we have another remake attempt by the American film market, but this time it is of a South Korean movie from 2003 titled "A Tale of Two Sisters." Fast forward to 2009 in which its U.S. adaptation is known as "The Uninvited", displays the talents of well-known actress Elizabeth Banks and up-and-coming actress Emily Browning. The on screen performances were strong on all counts, and even the story kept me going throughout the films duration. However, while all of those things were very well done I am sad to say that the finale of the film is predictable and is nothing we haven't seen before. I found myself remembering such amazing hits as "The Sixth Sense", which was phenomenal. And if you haven't seen that one I recommend you do so before seeing this film or any other!!! :) In terms of the film style, it was visually satisfying with some interesting color schemes and angles. It's worth checking out and appreciating for what it does accomplish. Enjoy!!!

This brings us to the conclusion of part three of the DishThis! horror marathon. The next installment is well under way and I hope all you genre fans will keep your eyes peeled as the next few months have a great deal in store. Until then, let the fear consume you but always remember to check your back seat before getting into the car and NEVER let your guard down!

Horror Reviews Are In - Part II

Here it is readers as promised, part two in the horror review series. Just as the initial entry, these posts are to provide you all with various film reviews written by me personally and will range from films that for the most part have for decades been under the radar. However, for those of you that prefer more up-to-date movies there's no reason to worry because I've got a few of those included as well. Now that I've said all that, lets DISH on my latest marathon...

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 224px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SfKxhmDuXNI/AAAAAAAAAB4/C2siwN5Zg_U/s320/lasthouse1972.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328516499842686162" />
I have to say that initially when I went to view this film, I was quickly bored and found myself distracted and tuning out. However, it was 2:30 in the morning so I could have just been tired. Not giving it a second thought until it was announced that an updated version would be filmed and released in 2009, I went back to it and tried again. This time it was 9 p.m. and I was wide awake. I have to say, Sean Cunningham and Wes Craven did an excellent job with this piece. While the film is extremely violent with its presentation of rape/murder/drugs, etc., the idea represented in this film is quite different than anything that had been put together to this magnitude back in the early 70's. The theme of good vs. evil is clearly represented, however it is showcased in a much different manner than traditional horror films. You've got the rapists and murderers who commit unspeakable acts of cruelty, and then you've got the loving and devoted couple who end up seeking revenge on the deviants that preyed on their daughter. The choppiness of the film is something that had bothered me slightly but after a few viewings, I find that it actually adds more terror and a sense of being stranded with no hope of survival. The graininess too is something that if it had not been there and the picture were more clear, then it would have felt like an entirely different film. Definitely a film to add into a collection and a must if you intend on viewing the 2009 version. Enjoy and just remember to repeat to yourself "It's only a movie!"

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 216px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SfKyO65fSrI/AAAAAAAAACA/E5Fcpu4NtVE/s320/lasthouse2009.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328517278531013298" />
Everyone knows I have a place in my heart for the originals, however it's a key part of my life and who I am to give these new additions a chance! I am happy to say that this one definitely doesn't disappoint. It kept all of the important factors that made the 1972 feature so unique and fresh for its time. Obviously with the new technologies available today, this film has an entire different look and feel to it, but don't let that turn you off because it works. The infamous rape scene is still there and just as disturbing as it was before. In terms of alterations to the film, I'd have to say that the most significant change in terms of character development in this update of the classic was that of the escaped convicts son; Justin. This time around he is much more together and not nearly as crazed as his family. He is remorseful and wants to help the victims escape, however it comes off that he himself is somewhat of a victim too. What is important with his character is the sense of redemption that lies beneath his trapped exterior. The casting of the parents seeking revenge was very well done, the intensity on their faces when they discover their daughter and that instant switch that seemed to go off in their eyes. Look closely you can see it on camera the moment they decide to seek vengence. Wes Craven did a phenomenal job here, it's definitely one to go see! Enjoy!!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 308px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SfKzAAXOuOI/AAAAAAAAACI/_BH4mMYciqQ/s320/dorm.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328518121811523810" />
"The Dorm That Dripped Blood" is a film that in my opinion is not worth watching twice. The way in which I determine what makes a film fall into that category is whether or not you remember it. I had seen this film once before but it was clearly forgettable since I had no recollection of ever seeing it before. That is why this film is one I'd say is safe to pass on. The killings were nothing special and while I do give kudos to the rare end fate of the killer and survivor girl, the cops were completely ridiculous and stupid. There is nothing worse than poorly written characters, which is sad in this case because the premise of the film is quite intriguing. Unfortunately, the execution of the film as a whole fails completely. Don't expect too much going into it, and maybe you won't be too disappointed.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SfK0JEN4l5I/AAAAAAAAACQ/kOQbGIxeMdY/s320/housesororityrow.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328519376976517010" />
While the 80's was a time in which the horror genre spawned an abundance of films (most of which were simply forgettable and were also released in an attempt to cash in on the successes of Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees), "The House On Sorority Row" was one of the few that earned its rightful place to be remembered. Now does this mean I think it is a classic and one that blew me away? NO! Absolutely not. The story was quite unique for it's time, however the way in which the events unfolded after the initial killing just did not seem to flow well enough for me. With the updated version coming out in the 4th quarter of this year, I would recommend all true horror fans to see this film first. It is important to recognize and respect the original movie before viewing and judging the newer versions so that way you can see the differences to the story and film style. The big question is will this film end up in my collection... only time will tell.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 286px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SfK02bf463I/AAAAAAAAACY/SkVKPzEIK0k/s320/thecrazies.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328520156320164722" />
George A. Romero is one of my all time favorite film makers, and for the most part is known for his extraordinary ability to depict a deteriorating society. With his film currently receiving a Hollywood "upgrade", I just had to re-watch the original to recall what I did and did not enjoy about the film. Let's go with the negatives first, I simply detested the constant sound of the drums anytime something military was going on. It took away from the dialogue for sure, and if you watch/listen closely you can notice that when the actors speak, you can barely hear what they said during these "drumming-moments". There was just no need for that to be in the film as much as it was. The beginning of the film where the story is unfolding almost instantly, I feel was both good and bad. The negative here was that it seemed a bit choppy and all over the place and I couldn't really focus on who was speaking to who via telephones and radios and so forth. However, in terms of film style I feel that this made a great deal of sense regarding the message of the film itself. Romero was showing the audience a series of events in a manner that while slightly confusing, was directly correlated to how a real life event such as this would play out. The bottom line here is chaos would ensue. As a whole in terms of execution of the film and the telling of its story, it doesn't do it for me. However, Romero has remained in tact regarding his film style and storyline. Much like his work on the 'Dead' series, this film expresses what we as human beings revert to in the most terrifying of circumstances. We don't know who to trust or who to help, we simply are looking out for ourselves and those we hold most dearly to our hearts. Like most of his endings, this one too ends with sadness but is also left wide open at the same time. Most audiences are seeking a happy ending, but seriously this is the horror genre; all that should be expected is an ending of some kind. There is no logical reasoning in having a horror film end with a 100% happily ever after feel to it. That is something I have always admired about Romero and the horror genre itself, and someday I will incorporate those themes into my own works! Stay tuned for the new version of Romero's film which hits theaters on February 26, 2010.

That concludes part two of the DishThis! horror review marathon. I hope all you genre fans enjoyed this read and be sure to stay tuned for the next installment. Until then, stay frightened, lock your doors, bolt your windows, and PLEASE... never say "Who's there?"

Horror Reviews Are In - Part I

The first in a series, these posts will provide readers with a variety of films reviewed by me personally and will range from films that have for decades remained under the radar or been forgotten about. Full of nothing but direct extractions from the "Halloween" series in terms of the score and physical actions of the killer himself. Yes the maniac in this story at one point actually tilts his head to the side when his name is called out. Then there's the criminal psychology professor hot on his trail, and at one point he ends up at the grave site of the family member he killed only to discover the headstone removed. HELLO!! Can you say Dr. Loomis? For god's sakes the killer in this film was shot 6 times by the 'survivor-girl' and still managed to pursue her. Now, can you say Michael Myers? Seriously, there came a point where I felt like I was watching Michael Myers walk on the set of the wrong film. As for the characters, every single one of them including the Sheriff must have been high or something, because after not only discovering one body part and then another and eating 2 pies of pizza topped with human appendages they still managed to believe that nothing was wrong. They're totally unbelievable and even with the ending shot of the tear cascading down the killer's cheek; it doesn't make up for the previous 90 minutes. My recommendation: if you've never seen Carpenter's "Halloween" first of all there is no excuse for that but watch that first and then this film and you will see just how much this film is a copycat movie.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 172px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SdVH0f-yPzI/AAAAAAAAABQ/a4iOjU-N97A/s320/bloodiner.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5320237502071717682" />
This film was utterly ridiculous! I would like to say that it got better once the story got going or that the film itself lives up to the title in which it was given, but sadly it falls way short of that. More often than not, "Blood Diner" is described as a horror-comedy, but I must say that frankly this film was neither horrific nor funny! While the story itself is all over the place and the acting is clearly just that, I found it to be quite insulting over the random amounts of 'Hitler' dressed characters; swastika's and all. There was just no reason for that as it did not pertain to the "storyline" of the movie. In addition to that, while times may be different now and this was made in the late 80's, I still wonder why it was that necessary to have such blatant negative connotation made towards the apparent homosexual brother rather than his heterosexual brother? They were both serial killers and equally guilty with their actions, so I just found it unnecessary that the dialogue used conveyed the homosexual brother as being 'more' twisted than that of the heterosexual brother. In the end, the few people in this world who may enjoy films such as these clearly do not have a finely tuned palate in regards to real film making and writing. I guess for mindless fun or to have something on in the background when you've got a group of people hanging out, this could work but I'd say don't waste your time!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 228px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SdVITq0jERI/AAAAAAAAABY/fvkGH8tIG5c/s320/the4thman.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5320238037557514514" />
What you have here is an erotic thriller directed by Paul Verhoeven that greatly resembles his film "Basic Instinct" which would come along nine years later. Since I have seen the Sharon Stone version many times before and have always respected that film, it was quite interesting to stumble upon this Dutch film and compare the two. I must first say that for those of you who don't have the patience for subtitles then you can stop reading the review now, because you will not watch this since it is filmed in Dutch. With that said, "The 4th Man" ends up being an entirely different film than that of it's American version released in 1992. The film style and direction clearly is quite similar seeing as how both films had the same director. However, the story you see here while still focusing around a "Black Widow" type of leading lady it is actually the man she is preying on with the underlying homosexual desires. The audience becomes aware of this desire in the earlier part of the film and spends more or less the remainder of its runtime building up to the moment in which he succumbs to his basic cravings. In addition there is this sense of distorted reality where the audience begins to wonder whether or not he is actually seeing these things or if it is just his relentless intake of alcohol. I find this distortion definitely keeps the audience invested in the story until the climactic end in which the truths are revealed. For those of you who are fans of "Basic Instinct", you should check this film out and to those who have not yet seen either...I'd say watch "The 4th Man" first and then follow it up with the Sharon Stone version. Enjoy!!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 175px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SdVIyTHOS5I/AAAAAAAAABg/Y3c-MZvP1oU/s320/Slaughter+High.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5320238563769338770" />
Okay let's get the abundance of negatives out of the way first shall we... I have to say that this film depicts some of THE most obnoxious and ridiculously stupid characters in the entire history of the horror genre! As a whole there's nothing new here; you've got a group of high school students who think they are better than everyone else and decide to play a prank on the geek and boom there's an accident he becomes facially deformed and goes nuts and seeks revenge on those responsible. What makes these specific characters so stupid is their lack of acknowledgment over what is happening to them and their complete disregard for their so called friends' welfare. Even after discovering two of their friends dead, they still manage to wander off on their own. Then there is the girl who is married to one of the guys and after discovering a dead body, she decides to seduce her husband's best friend and then tell him that he is in fact the father of her child. Hello, what are you doing there are dead bodies all over the place and you're busy cheating on your husband? In terms of the score, well let's just say I was expecting Jason Voorhees to pop out of the shadows at some point! Seriously, listen closely and you'll hear the similarities between the chase scenes in this film to those of the "Friday the 13th" series. "Slaughter High" has no characters with any redeeming qualities, except maybe one of the girls whom in my opinion based on her death scene could have survived. While the film is ridiculously cliched, you have to remember it is a horror film from the 80's and anything that came after Michael Myers, and then Jason Voorhees, and then Freddy Kruger are simply imitations that tried to cash in on their successes. Regarding death scenes there are only two that I felt were visually unique and satisfying, while the rest were mediocre and nothing original. Which now brings me to the positive and my final thought! This film did offer something quite different to horror audiences that was not seen much at all to my knowledge. Fans of the genre have for many decades become accustomed to and more often than not sympathize and root for the "good guys" to triumph over the killer. However, I found myself relating to the "bad guy" in this film and frankly wanted him to get his revenge on those that wronged him. My recommendation is to not go in expecting too much in terms of originality, but more than anything focus on the theme of good vs. evil and try to determine which title belongs to whom. Have fun!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 217px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uZwogdddaN0/SdVJOPO_nmI/AAAAAAAAABo/rHSaP1_TBvM/s320/Mirrors.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5320239043764526690" />
Here we have yet another American horror remake, this time of a South Korean film titled "Into The Mirror". However, unlike many of those that have come before; this one actually is both visually and psychologically satisfying. "Mirrors" has something for everyone. While the story itself is unique, it does hold the same recipe as that of "The Ring" in terms of that it's about discovering a secret from many years in the past that has now caused some type of otherworldly disturbance in the present. Kiefer Sutherland stars as an ex-cop (wow talk about type-casting lol) whom is desperately seeking answers to the mysterious occurrences of the abandoned New York City department store he watches over during the graveyard shift. However, as he begins to uncover the truth of it's history it is those he holds most dear to his heart that are in danger of forever being lost in the world of the mirrors. Alexandre Aja not only writes and directs, but I must say delivers an exceptional film to avid horror followers. You have to admit that it is quite an accomplishment for a french film-maker to take a South Korean film and adapt it into an American version! The performances were quite good and while people I am sure can nitpick at the slightest discrepancies in the storyline and/or film-making, it is what the film does to you as a whole that counts. On a personal and creepy note to say the least as I viewed the climactic scene when the mirrors explode, out of nowhere a sentence that read "don't worry just hold my hand it will be okay" showed up on the screen as a mirror-type image. It stayed there as the scene went on and I felt that something did not make sense, so I slowly reversed the DVD and watched the words disappear slowly. I proceeded to play the scene again, but no words appeared. I have no idea what it was or why it happened but it definitely heightened my already tense nerves. LOL - My final thought is that the film delivers on all counts of performance and style, and is sure to satisfy a wide range of horror fans.

This concludes part one of the DishThis! horror review marathon. I hope all you genre fans enjoyed the read and stay tuned for the next installment coming soon. Until then, stay frightened and never say "Who's there?"

My Life - March 2009

Hey Friends,

Spring is here and you know what that means... time to mingle!

Let's catch up on this month shall we...
I have to say I was a little bit uneasy about turning 25. Part of me started thinking about what I have to look forward to now. I broke it down to being 16 and getting your driver's license, then 18 and being able to vote and graduating high school, turning 21 and being able to drink (legally anyway lol), and now 25 you can rent a car! So after all that what else is there, I thought to myself? And it dawned on me, I have the future and can make it whatever I want regardless of the opinions and doubt of others. Go for the gold, DREAM BIG!

So back to the quarter-century-birthday...
The beginning of the month was difficult, because I began to recall the path my life has taken since high school ended. I thought about the people that have come and gone, and the relationships that I've had. And while there was a great deal of heartache and loss, I did realize that in spite of all that I have still remained and become an even stronger and independent person. So with that I decided to celebrate and embrace my 25th in style and with the best of the best!

This year I decided to keep the party more local and keep the guest list at about 30, rather than try and get everyone into the city like we did last year. With this economy it was just the smarter thing to do, and you know what it payed off. The bash this year was just as fabulous as it was last year, and I am so lucky to have such a great group of people in my life. With everyone these days having conflicting schedules, sometimes we forget that there are people who have our backs and will be there for us through the most difficult chapters of our lives. Looking around at the guests who were able to attend, I realized how much we've all gone through together and that they've all been recurring guest stars in my story. It's very refreshing to remember that you're not alone and that in the end someone will be there for you and will listen.

However, then there are those people who for one reason or another you've lost touch with and for the life of you cannot understand why. Sure people have jobs and issues of their own, and people drift apart. It's a fact of life, but it's important to manage to keep in touch in some way. With technology booming more than ever right now with emails, text messaging, vlogs, twitter, lol and so on... to one day just fall off the radar with no word is just sad for both parties. On a more specific note, right now there is someone I am trying to reconnect with. It's been just over one year since we lost touch. Thinking back on it, we were both going through a rough time and while I tried to reach out he pulled away or just disappeared. Everyone deals with things in their own ways, but right now I am going to do my best to reach him to simply say thank you. We were friends and whether or not he knows it, he helped me a great deal and I just want him to know that.

Which brings me to the here and now...
Life will always throw curve balls and the trick is to face them head-on and to fight your way to the top! Many people tell me how I inspire them to do better or how they envy my ways of just putting myself out there and saying what's on my mind and reaching out into the future. They ask me how I do it, and to be honest I have no idea. This is just me, it's who I am, it's who I've become. For some reason or another the hardships I've had to endure at this point in my life could very well have destroyed me. All I can say is I have to thank my grandparents; Mama and Papa. It is their strength that I have deep within my soul that I hold onto everyday and it's what I tap into whenever something has come along that threatens to bring me down. I fight back and take all of the negatives I have lived through and turn them into something else, it's all I can do. We can't change the past, the past is what it is and while it may have tortured me and left me with scars, the scars may not completely heal but they will be in a place that i will be able to acknowledge them but still successfully and happily move forward into the future.

Thank you to everyone who has stood by me through the best and worst, I love you all.

Until the next DishThis!

I remain...
Forever & Always,
JohnnyBoy

Gay Rights: We Will Not Be Silenced!!!

Thanks for coming back and to all newcomers, welcome to DishThis!
Let's jump right in shall we...

For those of you who haven't heard, David Caton; Executive Director of the Florida Family Association declared war on the gay community after his boycott began last week against LOGO channel's "Sordid Lives: The Series".
The show depicts the Ingram family and their friends who live in a small-town in Texas, whom each have a great deal of issues they need to resolve within themselves in order to truly live their own happy life. What you see on screen are how the obstacles these characters go through and their differences to one another actually forces them all to see each other for who and what they are and that it's not about what anyone else wishes them to be.
Simply put, this show is all about accepting people for who they are and loving oneself for what you are inside. "Sordid Lives" sends out a message of love and hope to all people that we are all the same and want to live our lives as happily as we can without fear of being judged by others.
Why David Caton has an issue with such a beautiful message, I don't understand. I mean after all, isn't he supposedly all about preaching love and protection of American families? What makes this show any less accurate in depicting a version of an American family, can anyone truly answer this for me? You've got a woman addicted to pain killers, another who doesn't ever get to live her own life because she's too busy picking up the pieces of her friends and family's 'sordid' escapades (LOL), to another who is in a mental institution. Hmmm yeah nothing about that wreaks American to me. How about you, what do you think? ;) The list goes on, but seriously what is Caton trying to say by speaking out against this specific program?
You can be sure if this was a program on a different network with all heterosexual characters and storylines, there would never have been any action taken against "Sordid Lives: The Series."
However, even more disturbing to me was the personal attacks made from David Caton to "Sordid" star Jason Dottley and show creator Del Shores. The two are married and have been a couple for many years now, however Caton made claims stating that Shores had left his wife and children for Dottley. Apparently, Caton doesn't take the time to get his facts together before spewing forth his immense hate onto everyone else. The fact remains that Del and his wife were divorced for just about a decade prior to him ever meeting Dottley and they were not married until 2003. Caton would like you all to believe that there was some sort of scandal surrounding the fallout of Del's marriage and responsibilities to his family, thereby insinuating that Jason Dottley is some kind of home wrecker who "recruited Del to the homosexual way of life". I seriously am laughing as I write this, because it is so unbelievably stupid to me that people who claim to want to protect the "American Family" are doing exactly the opposite by causing unnecessary drama and making false accusations to a loving couple and their family.
In response to Caton's false statements and boycott of the show, Jason Dottley followed up with a video he posted on youtube in which he called David Caton personally to clarify the situation that had been developing. Apparently Caton has a great deal to learn about manners and human decency, because he simply hung up the phone without speaking to Jason. In the end Jason left a voicemail that has yet to be responded to with an apology or anything.
David Caton has spent the last week encouraging anyone who will listen to boycott the show, send emails expressing their disappointment to the companies that support it, and also not to invest in any of their products. He has been against the LOGO channel for some time now, and he claims that any child with a remote can simply watch the GLBT programming that airs on such a channel. Hey David NEWSFLASH it's called parental control settings, USE THEM!
I have actually been in touch with Dottley and Shores via email recently and while I prefer more interpersonal forms of communications than that, being on opposite ends of the country it's difficult to meet face to face... but you do what you can. So I am speaking out on their behalf and for myself in support of "Sordid Lives: The Series" in saying that OUR TIME IS NOW! The David Caton's of this world must not and will not silence us. We are just as American as everyone else, and deserve television programs and films that depict the variety of hardships members of the gay community go through. I will post a variety of links at the bottom of this entry including Jason Dottley's youtube video link for all of you who would like to follow through and support our right to be heard and recognized in television and film.
:::In support and honor of Jason and Del:::
LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!
http://www.logoonline.com/shows/dyn/sordid_lives/series.jhtml
http://www.mylifetime.com/on-tv/movies/prayers-bobby
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu1Tz8ITJBw&feature=channel_page
BREAK THE SILENCE!
Stay Tuned,
DishThis!

Gay Rights: OUR TIME IS NOW!!!

Happy 2009 to all of my 'DishThis' readers. I know it has been a couple of months since my last post, however no worries because here I am with a great deal to talk about.
First I would like to say, how amazing it is to see how united our country has become. Whether or not you voted for Barack Obama, it really does not matter because this feeling of being connected to one another is being felt by all of us. Here's to the future of this incredible nation!
That being said I would like to get into the main subject of this piece... GAY RIGHTS!
As you all know from reading my previous 'DishThis' piece, last November every GLBT citizen of this country was officially branded as second-class citizens. Since that unfortunate decision came to be, there has been a tremendous upheaval in the gay community. We are showing the world who we are and that we will not be silent or allow our rights as American citizens be stripped away from us! Every week since election day there have been numerous events held in the hopes of spreading awareness over the injustice that was cast amongst our community.
We've had the 'call in gay to work day', an event held in December in which everyone from gay to straight and everything in between would not go into work, nor would they go shopping. The purpose being to show the magnitude of the gay community's importance in this country and how we are an integral part of its nourishment and deserve the same rights as every heterosexual male and female.
There was a march on city hall in NYC the week following the election to show our community's outrage at the passing of Proposition 8, which repealed all gay marriages and made it illegal for us to marry the one we love and truly live our lives freely. The turnout was absolutely amazing, and we definitely were heard across the nation.
Even internet based events have become a booming avenue for us to tap into and reach those who cannot attend the previous events in person. We currently have 3 internet based events going on that will most definitely make an impact in our fight for EQUALITY!
The entertainment world has certainly been noticed for it's most recent film releases that depict the variety of struggles that face each member of our community. Such notable titles being 'Milk', and tonight's Red Carpet premiere of 'Prayers For Bobby.' Both of these films were so astonishing and inspirational, that you can't help but feel the tears build up in your eyes. These films and many more to come will undoubtedly shape the viewpoints and opinions of those who haven't truly been exposed to what it is we seek and what we go through to simply be treated as a member of the human race.
As I come to the conclusion of this entry, I would first like to thank all of my regulars for continuing to email me in my recent absence and assure you that I will be posting quite regularly from this point forward. This piece is actually the first in a series, so stay tuned!
I will be posting a few links at the bottom of this 'Dish' that are my most frequent and valued sites geared towards the awareness and fight for equal rights amongst GLBT America.
http://www.glaad.org/
http://www.hrc.org/
http://www.marriageequalityny.org/
http://www.thetrevorproject.org/
Just remember... Let's get right to it shall we...

Election 2008 has come and gone and after what seemed like an eternity of disappointments for this country, we can all finally rejoice that "CHANGE" has come to America. That change is Barack Obama! As he stated, "the road ahead will be a long one", but I must say never in my life have I ever felt so proud to be an American. The sense of unity I felt after Obama won the presidency, and seeing the aftermath of people's excitement truly made me cry. It felt as if we all became one, something I never thought I personally could ever feel let alone witness firsthand.

However, while my excitement over the election would last for quite a few days my tears of joy I shed the previous evening would turn to sadness after hearing about the passing of Proposition 8 in California. America took a major step and certainly made history with the election of Barack Obama, and in the same moment we took a giant step back. The banning of gay marriage has officially stamped homosexuals as being second class citizens. California was not the only state banning gay marriage however, Arizona, Arkansas, and Florida also passed their own bans on gay marriage. Arkansas took it a step farther by also making it illegal for unmarried gay couples to adopt or foster children. Talk about being a second class citizen and trapping homosexuals into a corner. Do you really think we would take this lying down or that we would not be heard?

As we speak there are rallies and protests being orchestrated for the months ahead to overturn these unlawful stripping of our civil liberties. We will regain these rights and we are just as American as any close-minded heterosexual. The fact that the majority of the donations given to support Prop 8 were from the Roman Catholic Church and Mormons totaled about 38.5 million dollars makes me sick. All that money donated to take away the rights of American citizens when we could use those funds to help with AIDS or breast cancer research or fighting world hunger, etc. The list just goes on, and it is really quite sad and comical that these people claim all they want and are attempting to do is protect the sanctity of marriage. I really do laugh, because they are seriously misguided here! The sanctity of marriage, wow they really need to look at themselves with that one don't you think?

My feeling... we definitely don't care about who you love or how you love them and what you do, so why don't you live your own lives and leave us in peace to do the same! Why do you feel it is necessary to judge me and the way I live my life? You talk about protecting marriage and American families from becoming corrupt or skewed somehow and that legalizing gay marriage would do such a thing as send a type of "wrong" message, well how about this... You want to protect the sanctity of marriage by not permitting homosexuals to marry, well in that case why don't we go ahead and pass a law making it illegal for heterosexuals to get divorced. Why should heteros be permitted to marry and divorce as many times as they'd like and have children with as many people as they'd like? Don't you think that is taking advantage of the right to marry and frankly ruining the true meaning of marriage!

The Roman Catholic Church for years now has been in the middle of a huge scandal regarding the molestation of young boys by members of their community. A scandal that continues to shell out settlements to its victims in the millions, however to date these settlements have reached well into the tens of billions of dollars total. So just so I am seeing all of this correctly, you are not only donating money and fighting to prevent homosexuals from having equal rights, but you are also shelling out "hush" money to the victims of your appointed priests just to keep it as under the radar as possible that they themselves have not only participated in homosexual acts but that they took advantage of young boys and sexually abused them. How interesting that you who oppose gay rights are claiming we are destroying America and the so called dream of what it means to be an American, we are not the ones using positions of power to molest children and then offer financial settlements as an avenue of getting away with it. We are just as American as heterosexuals and regarding you close-minded people out there... I will say it right now, we are more American than you, because we believe in equal rights for all races, religions, and sexual orientations. We love freely, and if you knew how to do that it is then you would truly know what it is to be not only a citizen of the United States of America but a citizen of the human race!

Thank you to all of my readers, and to those who have been supporting gay rights... keep fighting and remember together we will be triumphant and will most definitely overcome! Victory will be ours, and we will crush intolerance in America.

Be who you are and love freely, and always...

- DishThis!

The DISH Is BACK!

Hello readers - been on a hiatus last couple of months but I'm back and got the scoop and ready to DishThis! :)

So lets get right to it shall we, life is at a standstill at the moment but I'm getting through it doing my thing yada yada yada. Just been taking the time lately to come to terms with some of the people in my life and whether or not they belong. It is quite sad how easily people take advantage and break trusts for no reason whatsoever. Whether it's friends or family people will fuck with you given the chance and play one party against the other just to further their agenda.
Life really is too short for games, and in this world it's a fact that playing games is necessary to survive. I never believed that, but like the old saying goes "times change and people do too." And this person is certainly changing and is done being mister nice guy, time to get ruthless.

In terms of friendship, it's been a true awakening lately seeing just who and what people are all about especially those who claim to care about me and cherish my presence in their life. Yeah umm... BULLSHIT! If people truly care about you, then they'd contact you sooner knowing that you're leaving town. Nothing like getting voicemails and text messages at the last minute asking "are you still alive, are you still in NY?" If you really gave a shit then you wouldn't allow the entire summer to pass without contacting me and getting together for drinks or whatnot. The worst was a once upon a time best friend of mine who had a falling out with me because they did not like my boyfriend. Whatever the reasoning behind it was and that my ex did turn out to be a fucking scumbag, bottomline is I've been single for almost one year now and regardless of my attempts to re-establish our friendship whether it be though emails or phone calls, they've gone unanswered. The final nail in the coffin was when a couple of weeks ago I had stopped by her place to say my goodbyes and the door went unopened. Mind you everybody was home, and they chose to ignore me. Way to be adult about things and starting over right! Oh well that's that, very sad I wish her the best and will always have a place for her in my heart, but I did all I could to start fresh. I'm always meeting new people anyway so moving on... :)

In terms of family, well it's supposed to be that you can rely on them and trust them with anything but lately I've discovered that sometimes that is not the case. I'll always be there for them but deep down I would rather take care of my life on my own without any contribution from them because with that comes unnecessary drama. The sad part about it, is that due to the complicated relationships of those that make up the generation that came prior to myself and my siblings and our cousins, there is no healthy way for any of us to have a relationship with one another. The insane drama that exists between these people is ridiculous and frankly its pathetic. My mother finds out she has a few aneurysm in her brain and suddenly everyone starts calling and or showing up at the hospital for "moral support." Give me a fucking break you're showing up so that way you can look at yourself in a mirror or go to sleep at night thinking of yourself as being a caring and concerned family member. If you truly gave a damn then you wouldn't gossip behind one another and drag the children into your web of lies and deceit. How about just calling to say hello and not only make an appearance when there is a family tragedy and or crisis brewing, ever think of that? Some people need to get off their pedestals and realize that the family you made for yourself is no better than ours and no matter what any of us end up doing with our lives, at the end of the day I can go to sleep knowing I never compare what I do or will become in the future with what it is your child claims to want to do with their lives. I love my family and wish them the best but seriously blood is not always everything, and when the time comes I'll make my own family and those who matter will be a part of my life and those who frankly aren't worth my time... well you'll know it.

Hope all my readers are doing well, it's good to be back - I've missed you all.

DishThis! : Ruthless Edition has begun!

Sexuality: "Straight" Men Who SUCK {Literally}

Let's get right to it, but just to remind my readers... ALL names have been changed to protect the not so innocent :) Okay that being said here we go...

So some say there's always a gray area in terms of sexuality and okay to a degree I'll admit it is possible. But lets be real here people, a guy who puts a cock in his mouth and considers taking it up the ass is GAY!

I mean it's one thing for a "straight" guy (in this case Thom) who hasn't gotten laid in a long while to have a gay guy give him head, but when Thom is horny to the point where he is willing to suck and take a load in his mouth... well yeah that's a homosexual in my book! As if that wasn't enough, I don't care how insanely horny any "straight" guy is... once they consider taking it up the ass well um do I need to say anything more here? LOL I'm all for diversity and people experimenting but c'mon Thom is GAY! Not the first time for him either, so just look at yourself and accept what and who you are. In the end it will be the most liberating experience of your life and the beauty of coming out of the closet is... you only do it once! Good luck dude.

Moving on... another so called "straight" guy (in this case Carmine) who's very much in the social circle...lol. Well let's just say yet again a classic case of wondering when "a gray area becomes a gay area." haha I'm curious what would you think if a supposed "straight" guy for over a year continued to text you and so forth to hangout late at night to mess around? Well seems like a homosexual to me, and while Carmine wasn't as orally fixated as Thom he certainly couldn't get enough of oral from a guy that's for sure! Carmine was very handsy let's put it that way and was adamant after he shot off that nobody even know the two of them had hung out together let alone had even spoken to one another. Classic case of a guy not wanting to be labeled as gay for the simple fact of whom he associates himself with. LOL here's a tip Carmine... you don't want people to think you're gay well maybe you shouldn't be taking your clothes off with another man! Just a suggestion hunni.

However, even more fascinating are the social connections between Carmine, his ex-girlfriend, and the friends/family of all parties involved in this little triangle. Carmine I'm curious out of ALL of the gay men around... why the fuck would you choose a gay guy to hookup with that is a mutual friend of every single person in your life? LOL - sounds like ya trying to out yourself babe! I wonder how long before it all comes out amongst the populous... it will definitely be an interesting mass of emotions all around thats for sure. Good luck with the aftermath bro.

Sexuality most definitely has a gray area, but most often than not in terms of male sexuality it ends up being not so gray. Just with Thom and Carmine alone it's apparent the two have yet to accept themselves for who they are, and while we all come out in our own ways and in our own time these two seem to be doing whatever possible to have themselves be outed rather than actually having to say it. I wish em both luck even tho Carmine is a total scumbag piece of shit, LOL.

But being serious, in the end bottom line is that the gray area that seems to surround male sexuality always ends up being a gay area. End of story so save everyone the frustrations and yourselves the self-loathing and embrace who you are.

Until next time... You have two people (okay sometimes maybe three or four and so on you get the point LOL) but traditionally speaking you've got two people and in the end the goal is to get off. It's simple, to the point, direct... that's the extent of it.

Those of you who truly know me, know that I have always been the relationship type and deep down I still hope to have that. However, lately I've been opening myself up to a variety of different ideas to maybe broaden my scope of what constitutes a relationship and if it is possible to separate sex and emotions and relationships.

Sometimes maybe a kiss is simply just a kiss, a physical act between people in need of some form of comfort. Do there have to be emotions involved when kissing and/or fucking? Can you really differentiate the two? I used to connect the sex with the relationship, but after my experiences with dating and relationships, I sadly am questioning whether or not you can have it all. Bottom line is I'm human and have urges and needs, what my biology is craving does not match the morals and standards I have for myself. I guess you could say I'm at a crossroads and are not sure which way to go.

In a time when STD's and HIV infection is on the rise, I find it sickening the amount of sexual promiscuity that's out there and don't get me started on the bareback sex okay. If there's ever sex to be had without a rubber, it's when you're in a committed and monogamous relationship and even then you really shouldn't. I mean c'mon people my ex and I were together for what about 4 years and he fucked everything up because he couldn't keep his dick in his pants so chances of me ever trusting a guy and doin' it bareback again are slim to none at this point. DAMN IT!!! lol

But all jokes aside how the fuck are any of us supposed to get out there and date and possibly start a relationship and share a life with someone when there's such a lack of respect amongst the populous for one another and themselves? We'll see where the road takes me, but until then I'm curious...where do you all stand on the 'sex with or without a relationship scale'?

DishThis!

Friend or Frenemy?

We all have friends and some of us even have frenemies, however is it possible to not recognize who's who anymore? Or even more puzzling, is it possible for a frenemy to become a friend?

These are just some of the things that have popped into my mind lately as I prepare for a new chapter in my life. Some of my closest friends who have a great deal of things going on (good, bad, and extremely ugly) do not seem to be making any progress no matter how much I try and help when they ask. I care about them and their lives but not to sound selfish "I have a great deal of things going on too!" I feel as if no matter what anyone ever says to anyone else, they will in the end do whatever they deem necessary to make themselves happy. Even if that means making the wrong decision for the long-run.

For example:
(ALL names have been changed to protect the not so innocent, LOL)
My friend Jeffrey hasn't called me in like 2 weeks and we haven't seen one another in about a month. To me this is unacceptable because the two of us since we met have been like "two peas in a pod." All of this seemed to change overnight when apparently his boyfriend Chaz (second time around for them mind you) made it known that there's a bit of jealousy on his part regarding the friendship Jeffrey and I have together. Neither one of us understood where the jealousy came from, but nevertheless since then our interaction with one another has completely disappeared. Then I magically get a phone call and he was crying and telling me how shitty things have been and how much he misses me and that it seems he and Chaz are breaking up but they don't. So two hours on the phone and I was able to calm him down a bit and have him go to sleep and have a fresh start the following day. Then a few days go by and he tells me that everyday they seem to have been breaking up and then 2 hours later they talk and get back together (yeah that's a great stable relationship right!) but I digress. Anyway the final straw came when I received a text message saying "I'm trying to get my life back on track its nothing anyone did I just need time. So I'm not carrying around my phone or talking to anyone. I will talk to people when I am ready. I'm sorry hunni, ttys." I get that sometimes people need time but give me a break I'm one of your best friends and you put me on hold so to speak... FUCK THAT! As if that wasn't bad enough he deleted his MySpace, and no longer has an email address either. Talk about hiding from the world, now there's no way to reach him.

Well all I can say is hopefully he figures things out and realizes what he does and does not need in his life. Sooner rather than later because shortly I'll be shall we say relocating. (that's a story for a future blog though) Bottomline here is that Jeffrey is still a dear friend of mine however to me it looks like he chose his jealous boyfriend over our friendship and that hurts. You'd think after the "Sex and the City" phenomena people would remember the truest of relationships are those held with your dearest friends because boyfriends/girlfriends come and go, but real friends are there forever!

Stay tuned for more entries into the "Friend or Frenemy?" series which will include more exploits of the people in my life.
Until then... DishThis!

SEX : It's 2008 Open Your Mouth!

Oh my god where to start, this is fucking insane! Why is it that even now in 2008 people still are so coy and can't use there words. I just spent an hour and a half, seriously 90 damn minutes on the phone listening to this queen talk about his new guy and their sex-life and future.

They met two fucking weeks ago and he's like trying to talk to me about certain things they've done in the bedroom and I'm like "for the love of god just say it." C'mon at this point just use your words people! ANAL, ORAL, FACE-FUCK, RIM, SWALLOW... I could go on but you get the point. :)

First of all what is the big deal, we're all human and we know we all do it and love it. So just speak it already, not talking about it is the problem. By not opening up it's as if there is something taboo about what you are doing. It is a part of our biological makeup to want to have sex, we are animals with intense passion and yearning for the physical closeness of another person. However, don't get me started on slutty mothafuckers, OH MY GOD THEY BOTHA ME. lol

I'm all about relationships, even though for myself right now I don't see one happening. But I digress this isn't about me (this time, haha) Anyway, if you're involved with someone on an intimate level whether it be for 2 weeks or 2 years or even 10 years for that matter. Don't sugarcoat it just speak out when you're looking for advice. My friend is such a great guy but seriously people come on when you're the bottom in the relationship it's inevitable you're gonna be completely submissive to your partner at some point. We all know it, so don't tiptoe around that, just own it and be fabulous and ask the questions you want to ask. Ughh 90 minutes of sugarcoating and I could have been watching Dynasty (yes that's right I love my Joan Collins!) Love that bitch, such a classic diva!

So what I am trying to say is OPEN YOUR MOUTH! Talk about sex with your friends and dont be afraid they are gonna judge you, and even if they talk about you later on behind your back who gives a flying fuck. All that means is you left them thinking about you and what it is you are doing in your life which means chances are they aren't doing it in theirs!

Look at me for example when I go out with my friends, I sit there over drinks and I'm catching up with all of them and they ask me how I am doing. I tell them about work and my current goals and where I want my life to go and such... But when it came to them asking me about my love-life, I simply sat there and said "Oh my god seriously I miss men you have no idea, if I wasn't a man I'd forget what a dick felt like." They all burst out laughing, hence why I am referred to as the male "Samantha Jones" (at least verbally anyway) lol.

Let's start talking people - it's time don't you think?

Until next time, DishThis!

Sex And The City: The Movie

The Cosmos Are Back And Flowing: Drink Up!

    Labels, Love, and Laughter are just a few of the elements that make this film a fabulous and instant phenomenon. The bottom line is, "Sex And The City" was and continues to be a thriving cult hit that has fans and newcomers raving about with excitement.

    I've already seen the movie twice, obviously I was there front and center opening night cheering as the updated theme song began blasting from the speakers. There had been so much anticipation and advertising for this film that upon its arrival it was no surprise that tickets were unavailable. It's Bryant Park's Fashion Week on an insane amount of drugs. The opening was an incredible party!

    The fab-four return looking just as glamorous as when we last saw them five years ago. As if that wasn't enough to appeal to audiences around the world, the beauties were once again joined by Chris Noth, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Jason Lewis, Mario Cantone, and Willie Garson. Definitely one of the most appealing ensemble casts of 2008.

    However, we all know that in the end, the success of "SATC" rests solely on Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie. She is of course the ring leader, which means as per usual that she is not just narrating the story but guiding us through the plot as well. Parker is back to playing the role of her career, and we all agree she couldn't be better. She’s sassy and sexy and in my book that’s quite a package.

        I do give my darling Kim Cattrall an abundance of credit for her never-ending flawless portrayal of vixen Samantha Jones; the colorful PR executive who always seems to have the greatest lines and down right hilarious situations. Cattrall who had officially permitted her true age to be written into the film's story is an incredible triumph for women everywhere! Especially in today's world, Kim is nothing short of a pioneer in my eyes. While most women are covering up about a decade before the big 5-0, there she is stripping down for us as if time has stood still. Kim and her on-screen persona Samantha are the hottest fucking 50-year-olds around, and if I weren't a gay man well... lets just leave it at that.

    Our gorgeous red-headed lawyer Miranda played by the naturally blonde Tony Award winner Cynthia Nixon continues to be the level-headed voice of reason. Think of Nixon as being to this dynamic what Felicity Huffman is to the stunning ladies of Wisteria Lane on ABC's "Desperate Housewives." Both are strong and independent women, but let's face it they are the calm before the inevitable storm. What I find most intriguing about Miranda this time around is that she is the one who actually has the most intense and visual sex scene throughout the entire film. Yes that's right full-frontal Miranda while Samantha lies naked on a table covered in sushi? Who would have thought was my reaction. I fucking loved it!

    Kristin Davis' good-girl portrayal of the Episcopalian princess turned "reproductively challenged" Jewess had fans laughing and crying immensely. Charlotte is pregnant throughout most of the film, and seems to take the role as the comic relief in a variety of the movie's dramatic and emotional scenes. Those who have seen the film know exactly what I mean when I say it's all in the eyes. Kristin has these devilish undertones to her eyes that come out at just the right moments. The little girl who plays her daughter Lily is a gem and such a perfect fit for her and loving husband Harry. Truly a dream come true for the "eternal optimist" we know as Charlotte York Goldenblatt.
    Props must be given to the outrageously talented writer/director Michael Patrick King for introducing us to Carrie's personal assistant "Louise from St. Louis." Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson who joined Carrie & Co. a mere ten days ago gives a fun and fresh feel to the "SATC" legacy. Absolutely hilarious with her stint on renting designer bags, I saw that scene and was like I have to get in on that for sure! Hudson's character brings us back to the birth of the show with her naive and inexperienced outlook on love, proving that no matter how much time passes there will always be a new generation in need of the gals from "Sex and the City."

    So when can we expect the sequel?... Well as Carrie said "Stay Tuned."

"Reality" Television

Get Ready To DishThis!!!

It looks like reality television is here to stay people. Who would have thought back in 1992 when the fuckers at MTV launched the never-ending series "The Real World" that 16 years later the networks would be flooded with an abundance and diverse selection of this so called "entertainment". At this point you can't even turn on a damn channel without seeing a reality show. It seems to have a home on ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX! The four largest and leading networks in the entire television arena and this is what they are filling their airwaves with!!? Who would've thought this would happen, right! Whether it be a group of strangers living together, a group of designers or chefs or hair stylists or dancers competing for a champion title and a cash prize to jump-start their careers, or even the exploits of some of the most eyed celebs in Hollywood... there's apparently something for everyone!

I must admit that I have NEVER been a fan of reality shows, nor did I think I would ever jump on the band wagon either. C'mon the only season of "The Real World" I ever watched was New Orleans (ages ago right, I know! lol) However, times are different now and while American television was changing I myself had been further growing as a person and opening myself up to the true greatness behind reality t.v. While I'm in no way supporting the endless and insufferable dance programs that seem to be taking over the airwaves (OMG they bother me!), I will say that I am hooked on BRAVO TV's reality programming! What many of these shows have done is give everyday American citizens the opportunity to show-off their talents and begin their careers. I think that is great, and I do enjoy getting to know the people cast for each season. Top Chef, Project Runway, Real Housewives of Orange County (and yes now NYC as well), possibly New Jersey Housewives too, but lets see when it airs and what drama those bitches gonna bring to us haha. Others I watch are Food Network's "The Next Food Network Star", Oxygen's "Tori & Dean: Inn Love" and the recently debut series on E! "Living Lohan" (I can't believe I have sunk so low) and "Denise Richards: It's Complicated" (I don't give a flying fuck what anyone says she is fabulous and everyone has taken to her in ALL the wrong ways.) And while I love Paris I just... ughh don't get me started on that Hilton girl. Moving on please!

I won't waste too much time on "Living Lohan", however haven't we already seen this before; a screwed-up always in the tabloid family living on Long Island? Oh that's right A&E's "Growing Up Gotti". While both families do in fact have their issues, I am tired of people and the tabloids getting into their fucking lives. Who gives a shit what the Lohan's are up to, in the end they are just like everyone else and have a right to their privacy. So leave them the hell alone. I give so much credit to Dina Lohan for having her hands full and being the single mom that she is, not many women can do it and they don't have the paparazzi to worry about. Same goes for Victoria Gotti, those three boys of hers while deep down probably sweethearts certainly keep her on her toes! Props to you both, but come on papps just let them be and make your own lives something special and then ya wont have to idolize these celebs.

And now onto Denise Richards... I have always loved this girl and do not give a fuck what people say about her or her family life. Okay so she had some major bad press for a few years and it takes two to tango I agree but she was so not in the wrong with that whole Charlie fiasco. She likes the bad boys so what that doesn't mean she deserves the treatment she received from her ex and she certainly doesn't deserve the bullshit the paparazzi dishes out into her life on a daily basis. She is fabulous and these people live to judge and spread rumors of people they don't know. Just shut the fuck up and get your own lives and leave them alone. I give Denise and the Lohan's so much credit for going ahead into the reality show arena and putting themselves out there for us all to see just how truly complicated and fucked up their lives are. To me that shows how real they are and not phased by any paparazzi bullshit.

To bring this entry to a close, I will leave off by saying one more time that I still am not 100% on board with the reality t.v. phenomenon, but as a future director and screenwriter in the industry I do love the entertainment news and programs that show the actors and their families in as close to the norm of their lives as possible. I think of my watching reality television as research, because whether myself or anyone else out there likes it or not ... it's here to stay! I would love to hear from ALL of YOU out there and how you feel about reality television and the celebs that frequent the airwaves and magazines. Comments are welcome and expected!

Until next time ... DishThis!!!
